ОПИСАНИЕ
Charming apartment in an ancient building situated in the historical center of Certaldo Alto, a characteristic medieval village where the well-known poet Giovanni Boccaccio (author of the “Decamorone) was born and lived.
This apartment has been carefully restored preserving its original features as well as the ancient materials; the interiors are tastefully furnished and provide all modern comforts.
The owners of the property run an excellent restaurant (only a short distance away) offering nice recipes of the local tradition.
At their arrival, guests staying at Antonella, will be given a permission allowing them to drive to the apartment to unload and load their luggage.
A public parking and a private garage are approx. 100 m away.
During the month of July (for approx. 10 days) there is a very nice “festival” (“named Mercantia”) taking place in the historical centre of Certaldo Alto (the oldest part of the town), where local artists and artisans show their works until late at the night.
For food and wine lovers there is an interesting gastronomic show (“Boccaccesca”) taking place in the historical center of Certaldo Alto in October, during the first 2 week-ends.
Distances: the centre of Certaldo Basso with general stores and train station (trains to Florence and Siena) is approx. 500 m away (the town is also accessible in a 1-minute trip by a funicular leaving each 15 minutes), Florence (airport) 40 km, Siena 35 km, the renowned town of San Gimignano 9 km, Volterra 50 km, Pisa (airport) 55 km.
