Nice farmhouse and outbuilding dating back to 17th century which have been tastefully restored preserving the ancient charm and the original architectural features like the beamed ceilings and the terracotta-tiled floors. This property comprises 9 units all of which furnished in a simple, rustic Tuscan style. The apartments Merse 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are in the main house while Merse 8 and 9 are in the out building.
This property offers a large fenced garden with shady areas, panoramic pool, bowling green and several nice corners ideal for relaxing or al-fresco dining.
Casale Merse is half-way between Siena and the coastline, between the Chianti and the Maremma region; it is in peaceful location amidst century-old oaks, in the natural Preserve of the “Merse” region. The river “Merse” runs approx. 500 m away and it is a nice swimming spot. The property offers nice views over the surrounding woods and fields and it is an ideal place for those who like being in close contact with nature. A short distance away there are the Petriolo spas (with sulphuric waters), known since the Roman times.

The area is really wonderful, nicely isolated. The overall technical conditions are also very good (heating, hot water, cleaness, service), and the property is in a very good shape. The only negative aspect is that the apartments are very close to each other, so when all are booked the situation might be noisy and crowded. Fortunately it was not my case.
